A day of mixed feelings on
the race track.
David Sims Jr. ran a night race at Apex Race Track.
Things looked good from the beginning when David Jr. went out for
his practice session he clocked a 57.25 sec., considering the last time we practice at Apex was in March!!!!
As David
Jr. took it to the track on the first heat race, David Jr. started 6th, he had a great start and
on the first lap where had already gained 2 positions. Lewis Hamilton I mean David Jr. passed the remaining
cars on the following laps and demonstrated a great amount of patience and maturity, but to everyone's surprise
an error by the start finish flagman David Jr. didn’t get the checkered. However, David Jr. was savoring
his win as he knew that the race was his.
On the second heat race David checked out from the start and had a cool and collected race.
Now to the
main event, after a talk in the trailer David Jr. finally realized that this is it, one more win and we have this event
in a hat trick, pole, fast lap and race win.
David was a little slow on the start and lost 3 positions, falling form 1st to 4th,
but this is another day at the office for him, and by the end of the first lap David Jr. was on his way into the
chicane where he pulled along side of a competitor by braking late and confirmed the pass. On the following lap at the
end of the main straight he passed the third place driver and now David Jr.climbed to second . David’s line was
PERFECT, if a international race reporter was covering this race I’m sure he would have described it as a “Birth
of a Champion” or “A Magic Moment”, well back to the track, David followed the leader
and at the end of the back straight where he went for the pass. Now a pass is hard when you have cars running on the
same motor, but even harder when you are 6 and is passing on the highest speed point of the track, now it’s over, he
did it, redemption finally. David wins his first road course event!!!!!
But things sometimes don’t go so easy like that in racing;
due to a factory mistake the base gasket was too short and David’s car didn’t pass tech inspection. Thank you
Scott for the clean tech you provided and the explanations, we will definately build on that.
By now disappointment begins
to set in, but to our surprise, someone that is very dear to us Mr. David DiMond, acknowledged David’s performance and
compared David Jr. to his idol F1's Lewis Hamilton, not only compared but lines him up as a successor.
Great race
David, great show!

Another
exciting day at the track. The day started with promising results that made for some fast times at the track. David Sims Jr.
had a good run in practice and found some time in minor adjustments. However, David's brilliant qualifying run was over
shadowed by a mechanical failure due to losing his muffler, but that's racing. Full of determination and resilience, David
Jr. started the pre-main from the back in 18th position and had a great start passing several cars on his way to complete
the first lap when an aggressive move by one of his competitors caused David Jr. and his kart to tumble off the track and
come to rest upside down which resulted in the race being red flagged. After a full medical assessment to everyone's surprise
David Jr. was cleared to race ( thanks Jason and Leatt Brace for the newest technology in safety ). On the restart David Jr.
was a little hesitant at first but by the second lap he was like nothing had happened, he was calm and collected and put on
a show for all to see by finishing 6th! The main event was by no means less spectacular for David Sims Jr. who started
in 6th. At the start of the race another driver ran into David's Kart and it cost him 5 positions, but once again this
amazing young driver, pulled it together and delivered a great race finishing the main event in 5th position.
Team
Sims Racing would like to thank Motul for giving us the edge, Leatt Brace and Hats Off USA for their support this weekend and we are looking forward
to the next chapter of this amazing championship.

What a day at the track! David Sims Jr. qualified second fastest by posting a time of 55.983 which put him
on off pole. The field consisted of 21 cars that vied for the coveted position of first place. The 10 lap main event was a
battle from the start seeing several position changes among the top five cars that included David. On lap 6 there was a red
flag thrown due to an accident involving several cars. Unfortunately David Sims Jr was forced to retire when the car
he was chasing for 3rd place suddenly stopped as a result of the red flag, with nowhere to go he made contact and damaged
his steering. That's racing, you gotta love it!

Engine
woes hampers hopes of a top 5 finish for David Sims Jr. as round six began for Los Angeles Kart Club Sunday morning. David
Sims Jr. was riding high after a 2nd place finish last month's race and hoped to duplicate that success when Sims went
out for qualifying. For the second time Sims's engine was responsible for a disapointing qualifying session due to what
appeared to be an overheating issue. The main event began with David Sims Jr sitting 18th from pole with nothing to lose.
As the green flag dropped Sims immediately moved up in position to claim 9th. But as fate would dictate, engine problems late
in the race forced David Sims Jr. to struggle to maintain his 9th position until the checkered flag.

Twenty-three kid karters waited eagerly for the green flag to be thrown at Los Angeles Kart Club's
fifth race of the season hosted at The California Speedway in Fontana, California. The day began with a disappointing qualifying
session for David Sims Jr. due to engine problems and resulted with David having to start the pre-main 15th from pole.
However, once again David Sims Jr. rose to the occasion by finishing 7th during the pre-main. The main event saw David sitting
7th from pole with 16 drivers behind him eagerly waiting to pass... it never happened. At the start David immediately overtook
4 cars on the first lap placing himself solidly in 3rd. Lap 5 and 6 found David in 4th but only for a short time. As the race
neared the end, with authority, David Sims Jr. regained the 3rd position for laps 7, 8,and 9. The highlight of the race was
when David Sims Jr. Drove down to the inside of the final turn on the last lap capturing 2nd place.
From that point on
it was a drag race to the finish line! David Sims Jr. finished the race 2nd with only 2.125 seconds from the winning car!

Los Angeles Kart Club hosted their fourth race of the year. Twenty
racers competed in the kid kart class. David Sims Jr. started the 10 lap main race 4th from pole and defended his position
valiantly until lap 4 when he challenged 3rd and prevailed but gave it back on lap 5. While still holding on to 4th, David
was taken out of the race on lap 8 when another driver challenged him for 4th by attempting to go inside as David was closing
the door. David unfortunately was dropped from the race with a thrown chain as a result of the contact and received a DNF.
